I was on a month-long winter break for most of January, most of which consisted of sleeping and watching movies. Booksmart was the movie I wish had existed in high school, and Lady Bird was the one I wish I had seen then. I cried multiple times watching both. Nicola Yoon’s novel-turned-film The Sun Is Also A Star is a great adaptation, and I don’t even mind the changed ending. The same goes for the masterpiece that is 2019’s Little Women. A great adaptation with a changed ending for the better. It made me cherish growing up in New England and yearn for the time I spent in Paris years ago. No shade to L.M. Alcott, but I found Amy more likable onscreen than in print. Like everyone, I am newly obsessed with Florence Pugh’s self-described “weirdly low voice”, and I’ve been sucked into the “You” vortex. I truly thought I’d hate it, but Penn Badgley proved me wrong. Jenna Ortega and James Scully are standout additions in Season 2. Looking forward to Season 3 in 2021!
