Four Discount Codes for Summer

When I shop, I tend to stick to the same few brands. I’m not just Lizzie McGuire: outfit repeater, I’m Lizzie McGuire: makeup repeater, Lizzie McGuire: jewelry repeater… the list goes on.

If you don’t get that reference, I implore you to watch one of the films that truly defines me: Disney’s The Lizzie McGuire Movie (2003).

So many fashion and lifestyle creators buy, buy, buy to seem fresh and new on their daily content streams. Some go so far as to buy an item and return it after posting with it. All the best to them, of course, I love that content creation has created income streams to allow creators to fill their closets with so many styles that make them happy. That said, I try my best to work with what I have, and if I can’t, I buy from brands I love and trust.

I’m lucky enough to have a few discount links and codes to share with you from a few of the brands that I’ve shopped from time and time again. Of course, I never expect or require anyone to buy anything I write about, but I hope you appreciate these discounts regardless. Enjoy!

Glossier

If you know me, you know Glossier.

Glossier and I began our life together in early 2017, three years into what has now become a beauty revolution. Founder & CEO Emily Weiss is a huge inspiration to me.

I can’t remember exactly how I came across it, but if you’ve looked at a selfie on my Instagram in the last few years, you’ll see “@glossier” floating around on almost every square. What started as a beauty blog became a brand and the main fixture in my beauty journey.

I’m personally responsible for over $2000 of the makeup brand’s revenue in the last two years. Some call it an addiction, I call it a devotion. I even had an Instagram account that spawned from my love of the brand’s ethos into a visual celebration of all skincare, makeup, and beauty products and topics. (@skinclare_)

I’d like to think that this discount link, however small, will spur a similar Glossier addiction in some of you. I feel so special when I get messages all the time from friends who have used my link, or have gotten Glossier products as a gift and thought of me!

Hill House Home

The Hill House Home Nap Dress™ was the dress of Summer 2021, especially for me! So much so that #napdresssummer took Instagram by storm. After buying my first Ellie (the classic) in February, I was hooked! When I finally took the plunge, the Blue Botanical pattern was sold out.

In the moment, I technically settled for Pastel Trellis but I ended up absolutely loving it! Also, the Founder & CEO of HHH, Nell Diamond, is one of the people I look up to most in business and fashion.

HHH collabed with Netflix’s Bridgerton (one of my favorite shows!) and Meena Harris’ Phenomenal in August 2021. I purchased an Ellie in Floral Pink from the limited edition range, pictured above!

In addition to those gorgeous Ellies, I have an Akilah in Mermaid Linen and a Sabrina in Space Floral. I wore my Akilah to my favorite coffee shop this summer and did a little photo shoot because I loved how it matched my pink hair at the time. The mermaid, shell, and cherry pink patterns are beyond perfect for hot days in Newport and beyond!

The Sabrina silhouette is a puff-sleeved maxi dress with tiny buttons all down the front, and a deep V front. As someone who can’t really fill out a dress like this, I resorted to tying it up in the back, but it still looked cute!

The Space Floral pattern is pretty self-explanatory: the baby blue dress features tulips, lilies, and more alongside planets and constellations. When I wore my Sabrina to a wedding, my photo was reposted on @napdressinthewild on Instagram, a fan-run account dedicated to the trendy dress. How cool!

Outdoor Voices

Get $20 on your first order of $100+ at OV!*

If you read my Yoga Gift Guide, you’ve heard me gush about Outdoor Voices. If not, what are you doing here? Go read it!

Anyway… I received two new OV sets for Christmas, in forest green and a swirly beige pattern, and I’m so excited to wear them in the new year! My athleisure drawer is filled with three OV sets in all different designs, perfect for mixing or matching. My summer was defined by my two Exercise Dresses (OV’s signature piece) in navy blue and white.

In case you were wondering how my yoga journey has been going, honestly, it hasn’t. I am not perfect, clearly, but I’ve struggled lately when it comes to finances now that I’m living on my own. I incorrectly calculated the cost of the meal service I was using earlier this winter, and that mistake practically bankrupted me!

Regardless of how much I enjoyed the meal service and yoga, I had to cancel both to save money. Once my schedule clears up, I’m considering joining Mend’s Patreon page, so I can take online classes until it warms up again.

I’ve used Patreon in the past to support some of my favorite creators, and I’m eager to support small, local businesses too! Not to mention, with winter online classes, I don’t have to make the perilous trek that turns me into an early morning icicle before the hot yoga steam hits.

As I mentioned in the Yoga Gift Guide, OV offers a student discount program, which I highly recommend to any college student. The brand also offers a referral program that I’m lucky enough to share with you! Quality athletic clothes are once again accessible, thanks to OV… even if you’ve spent all your money on meal prep.

Get $20 at OV: Use this link, enter your email, and get $20 towards your first Outdoor Voices purchase of $100+ in your inbox!

Ana Luisa

I’ve always hated jewelry. I got my ears pierced when I was 12 to fit in. By 13, I had vowed to never wear them again.

I was never fawning over a Cartier love bracelet on the pages of Vogue, looking longingly at a friend’s Return to Tiffany necklace, or considering taking my love for Harry Styles to the next level by sporting a handful of rings. I don’t remember exactly where my disdain for jewelry came from, but it didn’t subside until last year when I met Ana Luisa.

In a world as expensive and exploitative as the jewelry industry, (looking at you, De Beers) finding pieces that are stylish, conscious, and budget-friendly can be tough. Rising stars like Mejuri or even secondhand options like TheRealReal may only check one or two boxes for students like me. Sometimes $200 is a bit much for one ring, no matter how cool it looks on Instagram.

Onda Mini earrings

Most ads I’m served on Instagram are either out of my budget or entirely ridiculous. One day I’ll be targeted for Bottega Venetta’s newest RTW collection, and the next scroll brings a brightly-colored mobile game to entice 5-year-olds to spend their parents’ paycheck on more coins. Great work, O Mysterious Algorithm.

The one ad I’ve actually purchased from is, you guessed it, Ana Luisa. I had just posted photos of a ring made of copper wire and a turquoise bead, handmade by my high school friend Samantha. (They’re so talented and create the most unique designs. While they’re currently focusing on school, you can still check out their shop, Hammerhead Handmade, here.) After wearing the ring for a while and posting with it, I realized that jewelry may not be so bad after all. It seemed as though the algorithm picked up on that too, sending ad after ad for Ana Luisa my way in the coming days.

I did some research and found out that AL has an ambassador program and a few days after applying, I was accepted! As my first purchase, I bought the ‘Key’ necklace which features a tiny gold padlock on a gold chain. My collection has grown quite a bit since I started writing this post, thanks to a birthday gift from my mom! I now have a number of delicate golden trinkets from the brand, and I couldn’t be happier to call myself a jewelry fan once again.

Get 10% off any purchase at Ana Luisa with code CLAREDALY10.

Thank you all for reading! Happy summer shopping!
