For the budding yogini, certified guru, or practical shaman in your life!
I’ve only just started my journey with yoga this fall, and so far, I love it! I’m so excited to share my yoga gift guide for the 2021 holiday season.
Yoga Studio Membership
For any level of yoga learner, a studio can make or break their experience. A studio membership can be such a worthwhile gift to encourage a loved one’s practice of mindfulness.
Mend Yoga in Newport is my current studio, and I can’t recommend it enough if you’re in the area. I try to do their Hot Power Vinyasa classes three times a week. But whether I slept in, get sick, or just can’t bear the walk from my apartment, I don’t always make it. Luckily, the team at Mend is super chill and offers a waitlist so my spot doesn’t go to waste.
Don’t be afraid to ask about any discounts at your local studio! For example, Mend offers a student membership at only $89 per month.
Membership is great in my case, so I don’t lose individual class fees. I make back the monthly membership by taking just a few classes! I feel better after class and ready to take on the day. If you haven’t tried hot yoga, this holiday season is a perfect time! As it gets colder, the sweat and heat from class is a great way to release your stress and warm you up.
Outdoor Voices
Ahhh I can’t say enough about Outdoor Voices!!
The typical yoga wear brands are great too, but OV is my favorite. Their 20% student discount comes in handy, especially with their kits.
I wear OV to yoga classes, on walks, and as part of my daily outfits. Their TechSweat, Zoom, and other unique fabric blends wick every drop of sweat, seriously. I even wear the tops to the bar! Hundreds of people packed into a small space; and not a drop of perspiration to be found when walking (possibly stumbling) home with friends.
Water Bottle
The best yoga water bottle is one that gets cold and stays cold. Especially for those who do hot yoga, bottles like Hydroflask and Yeti are perfect.
Save the planet and give a gift at the same time! If your loved one is creative, consider personalization: gifting a bottle with a set of stickers or paint markers will make the gift unique and useful!
Mat & Towel Set
Right now at hot yoga, I’m using a borrowed yoga mat (the back end of which was ripped to shreds by the tires of my bike) and a much-too-thin beach towel, bought in haste at a surf shop before class one day. Your mat and/or towel can honestly make or break your practice. Mine aren’t ideal, clearly.
Everyone else at the studio comes equipped with an expensive, expertly engineered mat and an extra-absorbent cooling towel sized just for the expensive mat, both often in a trendy pattern or color.
While I don’t need to be spending $100 on a mat and towel each, I’d love a new set so I can a) feel more comfortable in class (read: less sweaty) and b) fit in with the cool Trendy Yoga Girls™ at my studio, and c) be able to move easier with a thicker mat, thus making my practice better!
Which of these yoga gifts are you hoping for? Anything I missed? Let me know in the comments. Thank you for reading, yoginis!
